Why Frugal?

fru·gal

 adjective \ˈfrü-gəl\
: careful about spending money or using things when you do not need to : using money or supplies in a very careful way
: simple and plain

Definite from Merriam-Webster Dictionary

The road to doing this blog has been paved with many twist and turns. The good Lord has a way of providing for us or delivering us where we need to be regardless of our thoughts and plans. As I prayed before I began this process, I was touched and convicted that I wanted this blog and all that I post to be a blessing to all that read it. Family time is such a precious gift and choosing what to do with that gift is always reeked with stress especially if the choice cost a lot of money.

Most of us are always looking for ways to cut cost but want to do fun things with our family and for ourselves. This blog is dedicated to finding those options. I feel being frugal is a good use of the gifts we have been blessed to have. As the definition states we need to be careful about spending money or supplies. I make a promise to not promote the normal expensive family and self entertainment venues unless you can enjoy them at a much lower cost. Everyone knows where the ski slopes, concerts, sport games are located. I love all of these things but bottom line these entertainment options are expensive.

Also, I especially enjoy the second definition. We, as parents, feel we have to always have to plan fancy, fun,
and over the top functions to entertain our children but at the end of the day the kids just want to be with us. This is so convicting as we plan activities to keep them simple and plain. I have always felt that less was more and try to use that as I post and write in this blog.

Thank you for going on this journey with me. At the end of the day, I am a Christian, wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend who is just trying to make each day count. I will make mistakes and I will miss some things. I need accountability and I welcome you to send me suggestions or frugal finds that you see in the great city or nationwide.

New Adventure

For many months now, I have considered starting a blog. I post on other social media like crazy and through those post many friends have received a glimpse into my life. The Lord has been leading me into several directions and away for several directions for months now and I find it amazing what doors are opening and what doors are closing.

If it fails,  what have I lost? I have not lost much. In fact, if I lose anything I would need to check my pride at the door.

There are many reasons you consider not starting a blog wrapped up in all kinds of pride and time issues. You know what I am talking about .... I do not write that well, what if no one reads it, and what if ........... insert any excuse. Then as a mom of 4, there is the time excuse but let me let you in on a secret, everyone is busy. Busy is also a state of mind and a choice. We sure do make times for those things we enjoy. After this conviction, I decided I needed to just take the blessings the Lord has given me and share them with the world (or with my little smile piece of Colorado).

So as my children went back to school today, so goes the beginning of my adventure into the world of blogging. So what am I going to blog about? As some have been blessed with ability to sing, dance, study, exercise or whatever you gifting is (we ALL have one), my gift is the ability to organize.

I love to organize events, stay cations, get togethers, and this blog is to share that gift with the world. Please follow me on the new adventure and I hope it will be a blessing to you and your family.
Much love and blessings, Jen
